Founded in 1876, Stillman College is poised to commemorate its 140th anniversary with a notable dinner and recognition event on Thursday, May 19, 2016 on the college campus. For 140 years Stillman College has encouraged and endorsed education as a liberal arts institution. It is time to celebrate the history and achievements of this institution of higher learning. This year’s theme, “A Foundation for Life”, highlights Stillman’s rich history and mission to provide a quality education for all students past and present.
The dinner is slated for May 19, 2016 and the keynote speaker will be Alabama’s own, Dr. Condoleezza Rice, former Secretary of State of the United States of America. She is the first African American woman to have held this position. A bestselling author, entrepreneur and member of numerous boards including the Boys and Girls Club of America, Dr. Rice was also appointed to the first College Football Playoff Committee. Dr. Rice is currently a professor at Stanford University.
Numerous alumni, community leaders, friends and students will gather together to acknowledge and celebrate this momentous occasion. The celebration will also feature expressions from special guests and a special musical guest. For 140 years Stillman College has been a source of education and inspiration.
